Pizza at it's best is inherently simple. Flour, water, salt, and a few select toppings can combine to create a transcendent eating experience. Similar to bread, before commercial yeast existed, pizza was made by hand using live sourdough cultures and flour fresh from the local mill. In this workshop, you'll mix, shape, top, and bake pizza using freshly milled flour and produce from the garden. Participants will leave equipped with all of the steps for making naturally leavened, sourdough pizza at home.
This is a full day workshop. The day will include:
- Making a sourdough starter
- Mixing and rising pizza dough
- Prepping toppings
- Lunch
- Learning pizza shaping techniques
- Baking pizzas
- Pizza dinner
At the end of the workshop, participants will take home their own sourdough starter and fresh milled flour for future pizza endeavors.
